LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2022 – Cartwheel, an on-demand delivery management platform for restaurants, retailers, couriers, and beyond today announced a new partnership with Square, the globally trusted software, payments and hardware company. This partnership will expand Cartwheel’s Hybrid Delivery offerings to millions of sellers using the Square platform.
Cartwheel’s Hybrid Delivery model empowers restaurants with controls to enable an in-house delivery program alongside their third-party partners. Businesses can set custom, automatic rules based on order value, distance, driver availability, and more, to sort some orders for self-delivery and redirect the rest to third-party services.
“Cartwheel’s technology makes it easy for merchants to adopt and manage delivery, whether that be via in-house or outsourced drivers. Creating higher margin delivery has become critical to the success of restaurants,” said Bryan Solar, Head of Restaurants. ” Square is excited to have Cartwheel be one of the first companies to access Square’s updated delivery API. We know it’s critical to our Sellers and we believe Cartwheel is among the best in the market to give our Sellers the flexibility, control, and more importantly, economics that restaurants need to succeed.”
Customers who elect to outsource deliveries have access to a white-labeled network of drivers to handle overflow capacity during periods of high demand. During peak periods when an in-house fleet is occupied, Cartwheel automatically taps into outsourced driver fleets to match supply with individual business needs, providing operators with additional capacity only when needed. Cartwheel’s delivery interface offers customized, branded order tracking screens and promotional banners, making outsourced delivery feel like an in-house order to the customer.
“This partnership with Square brings Hybrid Delivery to new merchants and markets nationwide,” said Alex Vasilkin, co-founder and CEO, Cartwheel. “Almost every business can benefit from a delivery program, and we’re thrilled to expand delivery management offerings to businesses everywhere.”
To date, Cartwheel has powered deliveries for top brands including Portillo’s ($PTLO) (also a Cartwheel investor), P.F. Chang’s, Potbelly, and more.
Cartwheel is an on-demand delivery management platform for restaurants and beyond. The company was founded in 2012 as a delivery restaurant. After it quickly grew to become one of the most popular delivery operations in Los Angeles, the founders decided to focus solely on the delivery outsourcing business. When the team realized there was no software solution to meet all of their needs, they decided to build it themselves. Cartwheel offers turnkey solutions for in-house delivery operations, including an easy-to-use driver app, sophisticated dispatch tools for managers, and user-friendly customer interaction functionality. Cartwheel is also partnered with Olo and its network of restaurants nationwide. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles.
